Its interesting how our conflicts /struggles /issues seem to affect others unconsciously . One of my uncles life experiences has been that he was not heard/seen in the way his siblings were. When it comes to Xmas, i unintentionally tend to forget to message him, whilst not forgetting the others. He then thinks i am ignoring him, reaffirming his conflict of not being heard/seen. I like him as much as my other uncles , and enjoy talking to him, so this makes no sense.

Towing the line-Take responsibility for yourself , pull your weight, do your bit. This to me does not sound like it is about bowing down to authority, more about being responsible for ones own life/actions.
