Great explanation. It takes me a minute then my brain catches up to what the metaphors mean and relate to. I do a very little bit of metaphor work and want to get more proficient with it. The last client I used a metaphor with I did it because she had a fluttering in her ear. I thought it would be interesting. She saw a butterfly on her right and a mountain in front of her while she was standing in a field. She’s been struggling to studying to take the medical school exam. When I spoke to her this week she seems to have another idea besides medical school. Like I said I did very little with the metaphor but some change took place. The fluttering in her ear went away. I wonder what the butterfly told her.
