Boundary Violations

Metaphors of Movement > Writings > Boundary Violations

The Metaphors of Movement metaphor elicitation structure provides a platform for peculiar behaviour that I call “Boundary Violations.” On the surface, a
Boundary Violation
may appear to be a random event but is actually a highly specific, patterned, and predictable behaviour. It arises when right hemispheric, subconscious, and metaphoric information is rejected by the more logical, conscious left hemisphere. This act of rejection reflects normal conscious processes, enabling the problem situation to remain unresolved and unexplored consciously. The MoM platform permits this behaviour to be uncovered, observed, and explored.

Analysis of MoM client sessions demonstrates that challenging of boundary violations significantly improves therapeutic outcomes.
