Austin.

In this workshop, I will develop on some of the therapeutic themes and techniques that are introduced in the levels 1-3 of Metaphors of Movement (MoM).

In the delivery of MoM during a client session, there is an element of theatre and “artistry” in addition to the techniques and processes that comprise the model. In my work as a therapist, I am very aware that how I deliver the therapeutic work is as important as the actual structure of the work itself.

In the levels 1-3 of Metaphors of Movement we cover the “what” and the “why” of MoM, and get a taste of the “how.”  In this Masterclass, you will get an in-depth understanding, demonstration, and practice of the “how.”

Much of my teaching will be improvised around client demonstrations that will occur throughout the 4 days of training. You will get to see exactly how I implement the theatre and artistry with clients, and how I weave between multiple metaphors in a complete client session.

In level 2 of Metaphors of Movement, you will have been introduced to the distinct taxonomical groups “The Hurts” and “The Fulfilments” and hopefully will have understood that these metaphor groups are primarily about relationship-to-other and personal identity.

In this masterclass, we aim to develop these theme further in order to delve deeper into the concept of identity and learn what can be ascertained through hurts/fulfilment metaphor analysis.

We will examine just why in-depth analysis of these metaphor themes tends to lead a person into the more mystical realms of experience and how such metaphors can be utilised for spiritual as well as personal development.

Additionally, we will examine some of the “pleasures” – the expression of positive and beneficial experience through the hurts bias filter, as taught and practised in various spiritual traditions for millennia.

Covered in this workshop:

  • The mysterious and yet pervasive 0=2 mystical formula
  • Zero Sum and Non-Zero Sum Game Theory and the TD E/I Minimisation
  • Systems Theory and The Prisoners Dilemma within the experiential metaphor
  • Sin and shame as expressed in metaphor and treated in MoM
  • The structure of forgiveness and confession as a therapeutic manoeuvre within MOM
  • The structure of “The Hurts” bias and metaphoric representation
  • Working with trauma
  • The structure of the emotional trade in fulfilment metaphor
  • V.I.T.R.I.O.L. and the meanings of light and darkness in metaphor

In addition to the theory and practice, I’ll also be doing demonstration driven presentations where I will be working with demonstration clients and explaining what I am doing as I go.  There will be some exercises and new material presented to the group.

Content I aim to cover:

  • structuring a client session around multiple metaphor elicitations
  • correlating clients metaphoric taxonomies across different metaphors
  • working with coherent and incoherent metaphors
  • the relationship between specific metaphoric taxonomies. One easy example of this is how  “container” metaphor experience primarily protects from “hurts” metaphor experience
  • the meanings and differences between internal metaphor (i.e. the burdens) and external metaphors (i.e. the landscape)
  • the living death metaphor
  • rule structure and how NLP’s ‘Modal Operators’ appear and function in metaphor
